Actor Abhishek Bachchan has opened up about his evolving relationship with film criticism, admitting that he once believed critics “didn’t understand” his work or were not qualified to evaluate it. Speaking at the Critics’ Choice Awards 2026, the actor said that his outlook has changed a lot over the years.

Abhishek said he now sees criticism as an essential part of working as a commercial art form. He said, “If I expect people to spend their time and money on my films then I am accountable to them.” He said he is open to scrutiny and judgment, admitting that the feedback has helped him grow as an actor.

He said that with time he realized that critics are not opponents but guides. “They know the way. If I’m confident I know how to drive, why not listen, learn, and improve?” he explained.
