Actress Rakul Preet Singh on Friday addressed the controversy over a recent comment in which her husband, actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani described their marriage as a “situation”. In a note posted on his Instagram Stories, Singh said that a line from a very long conversation was isolated and extended. “Today we had a lot of laughs at how one line from an hour-long conversation can suddenly become a headline. Funny… until it doesn’t. Context matters. Nuances matter. Better than reducing the conversation to clickbait. Maybe it’s time platforms took a little more responsibility for the stories they create,” he wrote.

All about controversial comments
The comment that started the debate was made during an interview with the YouTube channel zingabad. Answering a question about his marriage to give give love Bhagnani, the actor, said that both he and Singh had reached a point in life where they had already seen enough ups and downs and were not looking for someone to fill the void.
He then explained how he sees his relationship, saying, “Rakul and I are married, but we are in a situation which, of course, we are exclusive to each other, because that is why we are married. But the most important thing is that I can talk to her about anything.”
Bhagnani also used an everyday example to describe transparency among them. He said that if an ex-girlfriend called while his wife was around, he would answer the call on speaker. According to him, he does not keep anything hidden from his wife and honesty means that he does not feel suffocated.
His clarification came after the “status quo” comment attracted attention online, with the phrase becoming the focus of discussion during the interview. In her social media note, Rakul Preet clarified that she believes big conversations have been limited to one line.
Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani dated for three years before getting married on February 21, 2024. Their marriage took place in Goa.
