A day after reportedly attacking an Amazon facility in Bahrain, Iran warned on Friday that all ICT companies in the region are a target“Should the United States proceed with its threats regarding Iran’s power plant facilities, the following retaliatory measures will be implemented immediately. “All power plants, energy infrastructure, and information and communications technologies of the Zionist regime, and all similar companies in the region that have American shareholders, will face complete destruction,” a spokesman for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters warned in a video message. The video also featured this text: “Nothing is hidden from our sight, even if Google hides it.” It then pointed to Stargate’s location in the UAE, described as an AI computing cluster, and showed a photo of the US CEOs of the project’s key partner firms, including Nvidia, OpenAI, Microsoft and Goldman Sachs.Amazon’s cloud operations in Bahrain have been damaged following the Iranian attack, a Financial Times report said on Thursday. According to this, Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior said that civil defense teams were “extinguishing a fire that broke out at a company facility as a result of Iranian aggression.”The development follows earlier threats by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards to target US companies operating in the Middle East, including Microsoft, Apple, Google and Meta. The warning, similar to one issued in March, was directed at 18 US firms, including technology and finance companies. In a message posted on Telegram, the IRGC accused these companies of working as spies for the US government and helping carry out the attacks. It added, “Since the main elements in designing and tracking terrorist targets are American ICT and AI companies… from now on the main institutions effective in terrorist operations will be our legitimate targets.”Last month, Amazon confirmed that its cloud arm, Amazon Web Services (AWS), had faced disruption in Bahrain due to the conflict.
