A prominent lawyer tied to President-elect Donald Trump’s health secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has filed a petition to suspend or withdraw the approval of a polio vaccine for children. Attorney Aaron Siri has filed a petition on behalf of the Informed Consent Action Network (ICAN), an activist group questioning the vaccine’s safety, asking the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ban the polio vaccine manufactured by Sanofi Pasteur. “The clinical trials relied upon to license this product did not include a control group and only assessed safety up to three days after injection. Apart from the polio vaccine, Mr Siri has also filed a petition to stop the distribution of 13 other vaccines. He has challenged, and in some cases rescinded, COVID-19 mandates across the country, in addition to suing federal agencies for disclosure of records related to vaccine approval.
According to media reports, Mr Siri is an advisor to RFK Jr, helping him select health officials for the Trump administration. She recently posted a photo with RFK on her ex (formerly Twitter) feed and quoted President-elect Trump’s announcement when he chose her to be Health and Human Services secretary. “A new day is coming for transparency, accountability and truth!” He wrote at that time.

If RFK Jr. is confirmed as head of HHS, he would oversee the FDA and could take the rare step of intervening in the petition review process.
When asked about the petition, the FDA said in a response cnn Wrote: “FDA is continuing its review of the petition. We cannot predict when the review will be completed. FDA will consider the concerns outlined in the petition when making a final decision.”
“FDA will respond directly to the petitioner, and that response will be posted on the docket. Until such time, we can make no further comment.”

Donald Trump on vaccines
While Trump has been a vaccine skeptic, he praised the polio vaccine and related vaccination programs in a recent interview.
“The polio vaccine is the greatest thing. If someone asked me to get rid of the polio vaccine, they’d have to work really hard to convince me,” Trump said in an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “
