Chinese sin is: Why India’s new GST improves make your cola harder than cigarettes

And sin is not just about any more smoking. For the first time in India, Chinese is a sin!
Under the new system, there is a special 40% tax slab for luxury and “sin” goods. This means that cold drinks, flavored soda, iced tea, energy drinks – all are now officially under sin list with tobacco and alcohol.
Why still curious? Let’s break some popular brands:
- Cold drinks – Thumsup, cocola, spright, fanta have 10-15 grams of sugar per 100 ml.
- In juicy drinks like fruity and fun, 11–15 grams per 100 were found.
- The red bull distributes 11g per 100ml per 100ml and packs about 110mg caffeine in 250ml cans (about 44mg per 100ml).
It is only about 4-5 teaspoons of sugar in a drink, which ideally have your entire day limit.
Many people think that alcohol gap means that they have dodged the major sins of life. This is your wake-up call. A single cola or red bull may be doing the same damage.
No, I am not doing exaggeration. What happens inside your body when you consume sugar.
What happens when you consume sugar
You take a sip of that cola and – Zack! -A sugar flood enters your bloodstream. Your pancreas sends insulin to shuttle sugar to your cells. But not all sugar are the same: glucose fuel your cells, while fructose is handled by the liver where it turns into fat, promotes fatty liver disease over time.
Then after about 20–40 minutes, you get that energy from sugar (and often caffeine). Then, booms, insulin overshoots, your blood sugar crashes, and you feel, irritable, and longer sugar. Your body tucks excess in intestine fat, hazardous abdominal fat associated with diabetes and heart disease. Consumption of chronic sugar wears your insulin reaction, causing insulin resistance, a precursor to type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
There is more to cut. Your teeth take a beat: Chinese plus acid erases enamel. Your liver struggles with fat accumulation, triggering non-alcohol fatty liver disease. And your heart was not spared. Sugar inflammation of fuel, increases blood pressure, and increases harmful blood fat, tracking you rapidly towards heart disease.
Here is the real kicker – India is the diabetes capital of the world. In a Lancet study supported by ICMR, 11.4% of the population-101 million people are living with diabetes, while 136 million are 15.3% of the east-vessels. This is a massive public health crisis.
The World Health Organization recommends limiting free sugar intake to below 5% (about 25 grams or 6 teaspoons per day). Because, in his words, “from nutrition, people do not need any sugar in their diet.” at all !
The bottomline is: tax improvement is a great step in the right direction. It is expected here that Samosa -Jalebi is also beyond the distant warning. At the end of the day, all ultroposes, including Bhujia, Namken, Gulab Jamun and Instant Noodles, are a major red flag, and, clearly, are eligible to live in the sin category soon.
