The road in Nungambakkam, Chennai, where the famous singer SP Balasubrahmanyam once lived, has been officially named. From now on, Kamdar Nagar main road in Nungambakkam will be officially called SP Balasubrahmanam Road. Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister, Udayanidhi Stalin today unveiled the title board.

It was renamed as Sp Balasubrahmanyam’s contribution to the music. Hindu religious and charitable endowments minister PK Sekar Babu, officials of Chennai Corporation, and family members of SP Balasubrahmanyam were still present during the unveiling ceremony.

It was on the anniversary of the singer’s fourth death that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced that the name of Kamdar Nagar Main Road would be changed. The singer’s son, SP Charan had expressed gratitude on social media, thanked the Tamil Nadu government, CM Stalin and other ministers that where SPBs lived, honoring their request to change the name of the road. Charan said, “As a member of a family of SPB and representing fans of Padmunila, I am grateful to the government of Tamil Nadu for this honor. Humble. #Spbliveson.”

Born on June 4, 1946, Konmmapeta, Andhra Pradesh, SPB made his singing debut with the Telugu film Sri Sri Sri Merida Ramna in the 1960s. He gained widespread fame with Tamil film Ganeshana Maduve. He recorded more than 40,000 songs in many languages ​​including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. His brilliant career earned him many praise, including six National Film Awards and Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri of the Government of India. In 2021, he was posthumously honored with Padma Vibhan. SP Balasubrahmanyam passed away in 2020 due to complications related to Kovid -19.
