more about Jan Naygan
Directed by H Vinoth, Jan Naygan Stars Vijay, Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamita Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj and Narayan. The film has been widely described as Vijay’s farewell film, and is expected to be released on 23 July or 24 July.
Jan Naygan Originally scheduled to release on 9 January, before Pongal. It was submitted to the CBFC on December 19, 2025. The inquiry committee had then demanded amendments. After revising and resubmitting the film, the producers said they were informed that it was suitable for a U/A certificate. The process came to a halt following an internal complaint by a member of the scrutiny committee, after which the film was sent to a review committee.
KVN Productions moved the Madras High Court seeking speedy certification, but the matter remained unresolved. After a month and a visit to the Supreme Court, the petition was withdrawn and the film remained with the review committee. Delays increased further in April when a high-definition copy of the film was leaked online before certification.
Tamil Nadu Police later arrested several people, including an independent film editor, in connection with the leak. During the subsequent hearing, the prosecution told the Madras High Court that around 1.2 crore people had watched the pirated version before access was blocked. As the months passed, speculation increased regarding the film’s status and release date. A fake CBFC certificate also circulated online claiming that the film had received an A certificate.
