Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei, who recently came on a historic state visit to the Southeast Asian country. After bilateral talks on the second day of PM Modi in Brunei, the Sultan hosted a special lunch for PM Modi at his residence Istana Nurul Iman. The event took place on September 4, 2024. The Indian Embassy in Brunei has shared glimpses of the meal consumed by the dignitaries on X (formerly Twitter). The first course was asparagus with avocado, vegetable rice cake, cucumber, pickled radish. It was followed by lentil soup with crispy tortilla and broccoli.

The third course consisted of vegetable quiche, spinach, forest mushrooms with black truffle, pumpkin and green pea puree. Placing the different elements of the dish on the plate was purposeful. Placing the puree next to the quiche reminded me of the Indian tricolour. Take a look at the picture below:

For the main dishes, the menu included choices between jeera rice, chana masala, vegetable kofta, bhindi tomato and grilled lobster, Tasmanian salmon, shrimp scallops with coconut barley risotto. For the sweet ending, the menu included three types of royal Indian sweets. Guests enjoyed mango kesar peda, motichoor laddu and surti ghari pista as desserts. These dishes were served on a beautiful plate with maroon and golden designs. See the picture below:
