Punjabi film Chal Mera Put 4 kicked the foreign box office with a brilliant USD 500K (Rs 4.35 crore) in its early day. After Sardarji 3, it is still another Punjabi film that has been refused to release in India due to the inclusion of Pakistani actors.
The number of early days is slightly less than Sardar G3, which was opened for record numbers a few weeks ago. This difference, however, mainly stems from Pakistan and the Middle East, where the Sardar G3 had a historic inauguration. In other markets, including Canada, Australia and the core Punjabi markets of the United Kingdom, Chal Mera Put 4 actually came ahead of Sardar G3.
In the United Kingdom, Amarinder Gill starrer registered the biggest opening day for the Punjabi film with GBP 66K. In Canada, it created the second largest inauguration day, leaving only Jat and Juliet 3 behind. Similarly, Australia gave the second best opening for a Punjabi film, which was behind Mastni. It was also behind the number of Fridays of Jat and Juliet 3 and took to Jatta 3, which was released on Thursday.
The film is estimated to be gross than the USD 1.80 million for the weekend, if the trend is strong with the ability to touch the USD 2 million. Monday is a holiday in Canada, which should help in four days. The foreign market is quite large to watch the film, as seen with Sardar G3, but it is not for the loss of Indian dramatic runs.
Banning on the film in India is a completely unintelligent decision, as the biggest loses with the decision belong to the Indian theaters and spectators. Theaters in Punjab have lost three potential blockbusters this year, and it is sad when they are hungry with a hit. Meanwhile, viewers are waited indefinitely indefinitely to watch these films indefinitely or forced into piracy. Ironically, when India closes its doors, these films are playing independently in Pakistan, where they are finally bringing back to theaters after a long time.
