Carla Mosley is back in the day -long television, acting in Gates beyond CBS drama, as Dani Dupri, a former model replaced the momeger. However, the actress recently reflected her previous role as Maya Avant in Bold and the Beautiful and why she eventually got away from playing the groundbreaking character.
Mosley, who portrayed Maya from 2013 to 2019, revealed in an interview with people that she would not re -reveal the role, saying that it was “really unfair” to play a transgender character as a transgender character for her.
“When my boss asked me if I would do this story, I was not going to tell for the first time because it was unfair to play that role as a CIS woman,” Mosley said. “I recognize as Quir, but I am not transgender.”
Despite her early hesitation, Mosley eventually played Maya’s role, which came out in 2015 with a public transition of Catilin Jenner. He recalled how friends encouraged him to accept the role, told him, “If you don’t accept this story, this story will not be told.”
While reflecting the impact of Maya’s visit, Mosley shared how the story helped promote conversations about acceptance and identity.
“I am very grateful to that character because those who loved Maya and then said that what he had said was to like themselves, even with a family member, ‘Okay, if I loved her yesterday, why don’t I love her?’ He said. “I had a lot of reaction around treatment that was able to be within families and communities due to the story.”
While she accepts the importance of Maya’s character, Mosley confirmed that she would not take another trans role.
“At a certain point, it really became inappropriate for me to play that role,” he explained. “So I went away from it. No, I will not play another trans role. ,
However, Mosley is emotional about portraying meaningful characters, saying, “I would prefer to play a role with the kind of gravity and importance that Maya had.”
