Prime Minister Trudeau faced criticism for promoting and exposing his actions at a concert in Toronto at the same time Montreal was engulfed in riots.
The Canadian Prime Minister was seen actively dancing and singing while Swift’s song ‘You Don’t Own Me’ was playing during the pop star’s concert at the Rogers Centre. Meanwhile, pro-Palestine protests in Montreal turned into mayhem. Some shocking videos from the scene show masked men hitting car windows with hammers, while others show cars being set on fire.
Soon after, photos and clips of Trudeau from the concert went viral and critics on social media began questioning him for neglecting his responsibilities amid the crisis. Some dismissed his attendance at the concert as creating an image of a bad leader and referred to chaos as an expected outcome of his leadership.
In response, Trudeau spoke out against the violence in a statement on Saturday, where he condemned anti-Semitism, intimidation and violence. He ensured that the rioters involved would be held accountable.
While Trudeau could be seen dancing to warm up to the pre-show anthem, You Don’t Own Me, many Canadians felt that his energy should have been put towards stopping the riots. They were angry over the PM exchanging friendship bracelets at Swift’s concert.
One ex user wrote, “I would say he looks like the biggest loser in the world. But right now Canadians are the biggest losers in the world because we have who is “leading” our country.
Another user wrote, “People should realize that the government does the destruction deliberately.”
Many high-profile celebrities have attended Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour shows around the world, and yesterday was one of her last on her prestigious Eras Tour. However, many controversies regarding the timing of Justin Trudeau’s participation in the event continue to surface on the internet as Canadians are angry.
