Bridgerton is nothing short of a phenomenon today, with all its stars becoming international darlings, including Luke Newton. He has stolen the hearts of many by playing the character of Colin Bridgerton in the Netflix series and has established himself as a fan favorite. However, occasionally he gets a reality check, sometimes from places he least expected. In a cover interview with People Magazine, the actor talked about a fan interaction he had with his cab driver, also because of The Crown’s Ed McVie.

“When I was in Paris, I had a driver and I shared the car with Ed McVey, who is in The Crown,” Newton said. Luke and Ed both star in historical dramas, and no matter how different they are in genre, it gave the two ample opportunity to talk about their journey together. He added, “I think the driver overheard our conversation.” So once the driver took her to her destination, she had a request for Luke Newton.

“He was dropping me off at the airport and as we walked out he said, ‘Do you mind if I take a picture for my wife? She loves The Crown,'” the 31-year-old revealed. To which the Bridgerton actor amusingly agreed, “I just said, ‘Yeah,'” knowing full well that I’m not in The Crown. And when his wife and her husband She will be very disappointed if she sees the picture.”

Starr considered this polite conversation to be his “reality check”, saying, “It was great. Bring me back down to earth.”
