Boxer Vijender Singh offers Rajpal Yadav role in film, says he respects true talent
Boxer Vijender Singh has offered Rajpal Yadav a role in his next film as the actor is serving a sentence in Tihar jail in a Rs 9 crore loan case. What happened here?

In a surprise show of solidarity, boxer-turned-actor Vijender Singh has offered a role in his next film to Rajpal Yadav, who is currently lodged in Tihar jail in a Rs 9 crore check bounce case.
Vijender said on social media that he respects “true talent” and credited Yadav for making the audience laugh over the years. He invited the actor to collaborate on an upcoming film written and directed by Sanju Saini, adding that the team would like to support him during this difficult period.
Why is Rajpal Yadav in jail?
Yadav’s legal troubles began in 2010, when he took a loan of Rs 5 crore from Murali Projects Pvt Ltd for the production of his directorial debut ‘Aata Pata Lapata’. The film failed at the box office, leaving him unable to repay the amount.
After several checks issued for repayment bounced, a court convicted Yadav and his wife under the Negotiable Instruments Act. Despite several extensions and partial payments – including Rs 75 lakh deposited in October 2025 – the outstanding liability has reportedly increased to nearly Rs 9 crore. Earlier this month, the court rejected his plea for more time and ordered his surrender.
How has the industry reacted?
Support from colleagues has started increasing due to the actor’s imprisonment. Sonu Sood was among the first to come forward to help, followed by Gurmeet Choudhary, Guru Randhawa and Mika Singh, who reportedly offered financial assistance.
However, Vijender’s gesture stands for offering professional rehabilitation – a chance to return to the screen once the legal hurdles are cleared.
what happens next?
At present, Yadav is in judicial custody as the proceedings are ongoing. Whether the film proposal will materialize depends on how quickly the financial dispute is resolved.
What is undeniable is this: even behind bars, Rajpal Yadav’s presence in Indian cinema has not diminished – and neither has his goodwill.
