Hollywood slasher horror film Scream 7 continues to perform well at the box office. The film grossed approximately US$9.4 million in its third weekend at the international box office, bringing its total overseas gross to US$70.4 million.
The film saw a 39 percent decline in its earnings overseas compared to the previous weekend, which is a good hold. With its domestic gross of US$106.5 million, Scream 7 reached US$176.90 million at the worldwide box office by the end of its third weekend.
As stated, the film surpassed the US$173 million gross of the original film, Scream (1996), and became the highest-grossing film of the franchise. Based on a budget of US$45 million excluding print and advertising expenses, Scream 7 would continue to enjoy good popularity for a few weeks.
Based on current trends and its pace, the film directed by Kevin Williamson is looking to end its theatrical run at around 200 million to 220 million at the worldwide box office, which would be a huge franchise record.
For those unaware, Scream 7 stars Neve Campbell, Jasmine Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, David Arquette, Matthew Lillard, and Courteney Cox, with new cast members reprising their roles from previous installments. It follows a new Ghostface in a quiet town where Sidney Prescott has built a new life. His darkest fears are realized when his daughter becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sydney must confront the horrors of her past to end the bloodshed once and for all.
