Dhurandhar Advance was scheduled to open in India on Sunday, although tickets went on sale in some overseas markets on Saturday, and the initial response appears to be encouraging. Even in India, PVRINOX assets gained late; More circuits are expected to be added by morning.
Between the initial showing numbers, the film has sold approximately 500 tickets in Australia’s largest series. In very limited supply in the United States, the film has managed to sell over a thousand tickets, nearly half of the seats available for showings at some major Hindi film venues. Other major markets like Canada and the United Kingdom will open their gains in a day or two. Considering the subject matter of the film, it may not be released in the Middle East.
Of course, these are not large numbers at this time, and no definite conclusions can be drawn from them yet. Once the supply increases in the coming days, mostly by Monday and Tuesday, these numbers will also increase, and then some kind of assessment can be made. The important thing is that the initial movement has shown that there is interest in the film. Recently, the films which have got good growth in foreign countries, have seen the same trend in the domestic market also. From that perspective, this early momentum is a positive sign for Dhurandhar.
Dhurandhar is a big-budget film, but there were concerns about its initial draw due to its genre constraints and a trailer that is more atmospheric than commercial. However, for now, these early overseas developments provide a bit of a respite, and hopefully the positive trend will continue once India opens up to full steam.
