-Oopenai and Google used advanced logic-based AI models, which used to work through natural language rather than relying on traditional mathematical programming methods. The system of both companies successfully solved five of the six problems, a score that crosses the threshold for the gold medal in the IMO. This is the first time any AI model has managed to reach that level accuracy in the history of the competition.

The 66th IMO was held on the Sunshine Coast in Australia, with 630 students participants. Along with him, Google’s Deepmind AI Unit officially participated with its “Mithun Deep Think” model, which was previously introduced in the company’s I/O event in May. The model managed to work through all the problems in the 4.5-hour time limit given to human participants, using plain English to process and solve questions.
