Border 2 is registering good pre-sales at the ticket window. By 10 pm (January 21), the Sunny Deol starrer military action drama sold around 55,000 tickets across the top two national chains, PVR Inox and Cinepolis, for the opening day. By tomorrow morning it will touch the figure of 60,000. Overall, the first day advance amount is Rs. Around Rs 4 crore nett.
Although the numbers are good, expectations were quite high considering the legacy of the Border franchise and the nostalgia associated with it. The film is gaining momentum and a big jump in sales is expected tomorrow. This is the kind of movie that can do that. On the last day of its sale, the sales of Sunny Deol’s blockbuster Gadar 2 were more than three times what it was on the last day. This is something that Borderlands 2 will aim for, hopefully even more so. If it manages this, final sales could reach close to 150K.
If compared to Gadar 2, Sunny Deol’s film is lagging far behind in advance booking. Gadar 2 got a lead of 274K on the first day. It registered a strong opening of Rs 40 crore and grossed over Rs 40 crore. Earning Rs 500 crore at the box office.

Directed by Anurag Singh, Border is expected to open around Rs 2. 30 crores to Rs. As per Pinkvilla Predicts, 37 crores. The pinpoint forecast is Rs. 32 crores nett in India. Border 2 has immense potential to emerge as Hindi cinema’s first major success at the box office.
Backed by Nidhi Dutta and Bhushan Kumar, Border 2 is one of the biggest films of Hindi cinema this year. If the Sunny Deol starrer succeeds in creating a favorable word-of-mouth record, the film’s collections will see an immediate increase. The film is looking for a grand release in India, which will push every stalled film out of the theatres. Apart from this, the film has no special competition to Shahid Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj’s O’Romeo. It will be interesting to see whether this Sunny Deol starrer film can match Gadar 2 at the box office or not.
