Actress Bhumi Pednekar has supported the relief efforts in flood-hit Assam and urged people to donate and spread awareness. His appeal comes amid the severe flood crisis, which has affected more than 5.24 lakh people across the state.
Actress Bhumi Pednekar has stepped forward to support the relief efforts in flood-hit Assam and urged people to come together for those affected by the devastating disaster. Highlighting the scale of the crisis, Pednekar said entire villages have been submerged, thousands of people have been displaced and many lives have been lost.
“There have been very bad floods in Assam. The situation is so bad that 7.5 lakh people have been evacuated. More than 40 people have died, and the death toll is rising. Entire villages have been washed away, animals have been washed away. Whatever they had, everything is gone,” the 37-year-old actor said in his heartfelt appeal.

He urged people to come together and support the relief efforts, recalling how the country came together to help flood-hit areas in Punjab last year and hoped that Assam would also get the same solidarity.
Highlighting the immediate needs of the affected people, Pednekar said, “Assam needs a lot of supplies. Food, mattresses, sanitation and evacuation. If you see the visuals, your heart will break. It is very, very heartbreaking, and Assam really needs our support. I request everyone to donate as much as possible. And spread this message a little.”
In another video, the actor urged people to use the reach of social media to amplify the crisis. “We have seen the power of algorithms. Assam and indeed parts of Gujarat are also under water. The floods have caused immense devastation. They need our help!” He appealed to everyone to spread awareness and support the affected people.
The official Instagram page of India Disaster Relief Foundation shared a video showcasing the relief material received from across the country and thanked Bhumi Pednekar for standing with the team and helping scale up the Assam flood relief mission. The organization expressed gratitude for their support, acknowledging their efforts to step up and bring meaningful change to the relief operation.
Singer Neelotpal Bora acknowledged the efforts of Pednekar and other celebrities who have come forward to help. Bora also urged the actor to promote NGOs working on the ground.

The flood situation in Assam showed signs of improvement on Sunday, but the crisis is still not over, with over 5.24 lakh people still affected in five districts, according to the latest bulletin issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).
ASDMA said more than 5,24,700 people have been affected in Charaideo, Golaghat, Jorhat, Nagaon and Sivasagar districts. This marks an improvement from Saturday, when around 6.55 lakh people were affected in six districts.
However, the death toll continued to rise. Two people drowned in flood waters in Charaideo district in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of flood deaths in Assam this year to 68, the bulletin said.
