Bhumi Pednekar reacts to alleged assault of 9-year-old girl in UP: Broken society
Bhumi Pednekar reacted in shock after a nine-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by two minor boys in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district. Calling it a sign of a ‘broken society’, the actor questioned the environment in which children are growing up and urged people to take the issue seriously.

Actress Bhumi Pednekar has reacted with shock and concern after a nine-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped by two minor boys in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district. Expressing his grief over the incident, the actor shared a note on social media questioning the environment children grow up in and called the case a reflection of a “broken society”.
According to the police, the alleged incident took place in Haldi area of Ballia district and involved two minor boys from the victim’s village. The case comes amid growing public concern over recent incidents related to violence against women and children across the country.

Bhumi reposted details related to the case and wrote on her Instagram story, “Please read! A 9 year old girl was sexually assaulted by an 11 year old boy and a 12 year old boy.”
Responding further, the actor said, “What the hell is going on! How are we not concerned and embarrassed by what we are doing to our children? To me, little girls and boys are both victims of a broken society.”

This is not the first time that Bhumi has raised her voice against incidents related to violence and harassment against women. A few days ago, the actor had also expressed displeasure over a viral video in which a man was making obscene gestures towards a woman’s wall painting.
Expressing concern over the growing pattern of such behaviour, she had written, “This is the mentality of our youth. These are the same people who are sexually assaulting children and women. We are in a pandemic. Just words and showing shame are not enough. Strict laws, strict laws, strict laws.”
