The cast includes Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, Abhimanyu Singh, Khushi Hazare and Kanikka Kapoor. The music of the film is by AR Rahman and lyrics are by Javed Akhtar.
about the drama
The play is set in post-partition Lahore and focuses on a Muslim family who migrates from Lucknow after being allotted mansion Abandoned by a Hindu family. However, their new beginning takes an unexpected turn when they discover that an elderly Hindu woman still lives in the house. Refusing to go, she insists that mansion Is his. What begins as a dispute over property gradually turns into a profound exploration of loss, displacement, identity and humanity against the backdrop of one of the most traumatic events in the history of the subcontinent.
The controversy arose because the storyline ends with a local cleric advising the Muslim family to cremate the old woman as per Hindu religious customs after her death.
