BAFTA 2025 is almost here. While there is a lot to talk about the winner and enrollment, let’s remember the time when BAFTA gets into some major controversies.
There are five BAFTA disputes here, about which we feel that you should know.
Matthew Perry
After Friends Star’s death, BAFTA announced that she would remember her at her 2024 TV awards ceremony. It excluded many angry fans from the award, saying that the actor was also a film star.
Jennifer Lawrence vs Joana Lumle
During the 2018 BAFTA Award, Lumle called Lawrence on stage as the winner of the excellent British film, addressing her as the “hottest actress on the planet”. Still the Red Sparrow actress a simple “hi, it was a little, but thanks to her with Joana.
Later, Lawrence explained, “I was like the biggest film star in the world, as if she could not go out!” And went away, “Thank you, Joana,” also saying that it is seen the most beautiful.
BAFTA Bubbles
Back in 2002, BAFTA welcomed his guests with a thick layer of soap bubbles. Subsequently, actors such as Kate Winslet and more ruined their shoes as the rainy season made foam worse.
BAFTA vs. female director
Back in 2020, it was observed that no female directors were nominated for the best directors since 2013. On which BAFTA Chief Executive Officer Amanda Berry expressed his disappointment. She mentioned that the awards would push more in the future and it would include many female directors.
After this, welcomed Gita Gervig for Little Women and Lulu Wang for their work on farewell.

It comes from 2019 when the protesters took BAFTA on Red Carpet on award issues including Black Nominee. It was only the Idris Elba for No Nation’s animals in the best actor category, and John Boyga won The Rising Star Award.
BAFTA 2025 will be held on 16 February 2025.
