Badshah recalls depression after watching Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha’s film Lootera, says, ‘I took double dose of all my medicines’

Singer-rapper Badshah recently opened up about his battle with anxiety and depression, recounting a tragic incident that happened after he watched the movie Lootera. In a recent interview, the singer shared that he “doubled the dosage of all his medicines” after watching the Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha starrer.

In a conversation with The Lallantop, the rapper shared a difficult experience when watching Lootera worsened his anxiety. I watched Lootera and got depressed and started having a lot of anxiety. I took a double dose of all my medicines. I woke up and called my doctor and told him, ‘There’s a big problem. I watched Lootera and I had a lot of trouble. So, I took a double dose of everything.’ He consulted a doctor and in response his doctor jokingly advised him to avoid watching “Raanjhanaa”, which is another emotionally intense film.

His discomfort continued on the way back to India, where he reported feeling restless and sweating profusely. His behavior worried his co-passengers, but he eventually calmed himself down by writing a song.

Upon returning to India, Badshah began to suffer from insomnia and sought help from his sister, expressing his distress: “Save me, something is happening to me.” This led him to consult a doctor, who diagnosed him with anxiety, depression and a disorder. Badshah began taking medication and took six months to recover.

The singer opened up about his first panic attack, which happened while he was in London. He revealed that just as he was about to sleep, he started panicking and thought he was having a heart attack. In a panic, he ran outside and eventually took two sleeping pills to get through the night. It was only the next morning that he realised it was a panic attack, this was the first time he had experienced such a thing.

Talking about his journey, Badshah said that his family, especially his cousins, helped him a lot during that time. He said that there was some emotional distance between him and his wife, but his cousins ​​were with him.

Although he has now recovered, Badshah still carries medication for anxiety and stresses the importance of prioritizing happiness. He said it is important to be happy in life, and sometimes it is necessary to be selfish to ensure your happiness. He said many people are unhappy because they are not selfish enough to focus on their own well-being.
