Badshah has always been one of the most outspoken singer-rappers in the country, and he’s not afraid to speak his mind and call out what’s wrong. Recently, the rapper extended his support to Diljit Dosanjh, who is currently on his Dil-Luminati tour in India, and received a notice from the Hyderabad government for not playing his alcohol-based songs at the event, sparking a new controversy. Went.
Badshah, who has chart-topping songs like Genda Phool, Let’s Nacho, Garmi, Akh Lad Jaave and many others, sat down for a chat with Sahitya Aaj Tak on Friday. Amidst the conversation, they discussed the controversy surrounding the Hyderabad government’s notice to Diljit for not playing ‘liquor-related songs’ in his concerts.
In his response, the rapper highlighted the double standards of the society, noting that alcohol is easily available in most markets across the country. Nevertheless, artists and composers singing around it have become controversial in society.
He said, “You are telling them not to sing or make songs about liquor, but then you are selling liquor everywhere. Why shouldn’t they be made?”
Badshah’s reaction comes after a Kudi singer addressed a government notice on the night of his concert and said that he would not make such songs if liquor shops were closed across the country. Dosanjh also talked about how foreign artistes are allowed to sing songs related to similar subjects, but when an Indian artiste does the same it becomes an issue.
Badshah says that artists from different fields often represent the society in its authentic form through their art because that is what is expected of them. He said, “An artist represents the society, which keeps them relevant. They speak about the things that the whole world wants to say.”
Badshah also described his admiration for fellow actor and mentor Diljit Dosanjh and how the Punjabi singer always guided him during problems. He admitted to taking inspiration from him.
On the work front, Badshah recently lent his voice for the film Ishq Vishk Rebound on ‘Gore Gore Mukhde Pe’. She has lent her voice in a song titled Get Ready for Varun Dhawan’s upcoming film Baby John.
