What does this mean for Marvel’s Phase 4, which doesn’t necessarily meet desired expectations? Step 4 Movies, from black mother And Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings To eternal And Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of MadnessExpanded the world-building of the MCU by introducing new heroes, cosmic elements, and the multiverse. In a significant casting development, Robert Downey Jr. was revealed to be returning to the MCU in the role of Doctor Doom. According to Kevin Feige, the idea had been under consideration for years, with concrete discussions beginning as early as 2023. Feige said that the concept was pitched directly to Downey Jr., who gave positive feedback on the direction.

The film also marks the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers. Director Joe Russo said that continuing Steve Rogers’ journey was integral to the filmmakers’ decision to return to the franchise, adding that the story “required both Chris and Robert.”
