Neeraj Pandey directed Auryon Mein Kahaan Dum Tha has faced a huge defeat at the box office in India and is expected to close with single digit figures by the end of its release. As per early estimates, the Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer has earned Rs 1.90 to Rs 2.00 crore on its third day, taking the opening weekend collection to Rs 5.50 crore.
This romantic thriller was completely rejected by the audience and is one of the worst films of Ajay Devgn in the last 20 years. Where were the others Opening with a collection of Rs 1.75 crore on Friday, it remained steady on Saturday and finally saw a marginal 10 per cent jump on Sunday, which translates to a very poor result on Monday. The film has grossed around ₹3.50 crore in the top 3 multiplex chains – PVRInox and Cinepolis – which contributed around 65 per cent of the total business. Trailer and marketing campaign Where were the others It was a warning sign for Black Friday, and it prepared businesses and audiences for shocking results.
However, Ajay Devgn is coming up with two big films after ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ – ‘Singham Again’ and ‘Raid 2’ which will give completely different results at the box office and bring him back in the box office smashing game again. The mega failure of AMKDT will also make Devgn a bit cautious about his choices, as the rejection is a direct warning from the audience to sign up for more exciting films for the theatrical medium.
There was also a BOGO offer for the film, but the lack of interest from audiences outweighed the incentive of watching the film with free tickets.
