Malayalam survival thriller Manjummel Boys was one of the biggest blockbusters of 2024, starring Soubin Shahir and Srinath Bhasi in the lead roles. Now, actor Asif Ali recently revealed that his name was initially considered for a role in the film.
In a recent interview with Movie World Media on YouTube, Asif Ali opened up on being considered for the Chidambaram directorial. The actor said, “Since my first film, Chidambaram and I have discussed the project many times. There was a time when I had to play a character who fell into a pit in Manjummel Boys.
The actor further explained that after hearing the important impact the character had on the film, it felt better to have someone else play the role. He further added, “The initial casting was changed due to the possibility that my casting could have become a burden to the film.”
The film Manjummel Boys was a survival thriller film based on a real incident that took place in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu. In 2006, a group of friends on vacation went to the infamous Devil’s Kitchen, better known as the Guna Caves.
During their journey, one of their friends accidentally falls into the caves and gets trapped. The rest of the film focuses on how the others unite to save him. Along with Soubin Shahir and Srinath Bhasi in lead roles, the film also featured Deepak Parambol, Balu Varghese, Lal Jr., Abhiram Radhakrishnan and other actors in lead roles.
Talking about Asif Ali’s work front, after the huge success of Kishkindha Kaandam, the actor will be next seen in the film Sketchram. The mystery crime thriller directed by Jofin T Chacko focuses on a police officer’s investigation of a decades-old crime and the incidents related to it.
