Here’s how you might be missing out on all the good fruit

According to Ayurvedic health coach Dimple Jangra, here’s a common mistake you definitely need to avoid if you want to make the most of those juicy fruits:

Mixing Fruits with Protein and Carbs

Dimple has made it clear for us: When you mix fruits with proteins and carbs, it can mess up your digestion. Why? Because fruits are digested quickly, while proteins and carbs are a little slower. When you eat fruits with heavy foods, they stick around in your stomach longer and start interacting with stomach acids. This may cause some problems like indigestion, bloating and acidity. Plus, as those fruits digest, they can push undigested proteins and carbohydrates into your small intestine, which means more digestive problems.

What is its result?

  • fruit fermentation

When fruits sit in your digestive system longer than necessary, they begin to ferment, causing gas production and discomfort. An example of this is grapes, which begin to ferment when left outside. According to the expert, the same process happens in our body also.

  • nutritional deficiencies

When you combine fruits with the wrong foods like proteins and carbs, your body struggles to absorb iron and calcium effectively. This can lead to deficiency and various health problems.

What’s the best way to eat fruits?

  • eat fruits at right time

As experts suggest, consume fruits on an empty stomach to maximize nutrient absorption. You can also enjoy them as a snack between meals, just be careful not to mix them with solid foods.

  • Mix them with nuts and seeds

When eating fruits, combine them with nuts and seeds to prevent sugar spikes. You can also enhance their taste by adding a pinch of black pepper, cinnamon powder or black jamun powder to it.

  • eat as a snack

Instead of eating salty, processed snacks, choose fruits as an evening snack at 4 pm. If you have diabetes, eat fruits with a low glycemic index for better overall health.
