Why is iron important for hair?
You may wonder how iron helps hair health. Iron is essential for the production of hemoglobin – a protein that carries oxygen to the hair follicles. It also aids in collagen production, which strengthens hair. Including iron in your diet can greatly help in the growth of long, beautiful hair.
What makes fenugreek a superfood for hair?
For centuries, fenugreek or fenugreek leaves have been celebrated as a miracle food for hair. Nutritionist Namami Agarwal says that fenugreek is rich in antioxidants, vitamin A, vitamin C and more. These antioxidants and vitamins help purify the blood, which ultimately benefits both skin and hair. But the benefits of fenugreek don’t stop there – it also helps with the overall health of the body in several ways:
1. Promotes weight loss
Fenugreek seeds and leaves contain high amounts of dietary fiber, which aids digestion and metabolism, thereby aiding weight loss. Fiber helps you feel full for a longer period of time, which reduces the habit of overeating.
2. Controls diabetes
The dietary fiber present in fenugreek slows down the digestion process, which helps control the absorption of carbohydrates and sugars into the bloodstream.
3. Balances cholesterol
Antioxidant-rich fenugreek leaves help flush out toxins from the body, prevent inflammation and manage cholesterol levels.
4. Prevents acid reflux
The antioxidants and fiber present in fenugreek greens help regulate bowel movements, which may reduce heartburn and acid reflux.
