AR Rahman says it was ‘difficult to earn appreciation’ from Lata Mangeshkar
AR Rahman recently shared information about his experience of working with Lata Mangeshkar. Speaking at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, he appreciated her work and paid tribute to the legendary singer.
Oscar-winning singer-composer AR Rahman discusses working with Lata Mangeshkar and how difficult it was to earn her praise. Speaking at ‘Lata Mangeshkar Memorial Talk: Musical Theater in India’ at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Rahman honored the legendary singer and her invaluable contribution to Indian cinema.
During the special session, AR Rahman reflected on his experience of collaborating with Lata Mangeshkar on a song from Kapil Sibal’s album in 2014. He shared, “She came to Chennai for a song, and we spent some time together. It’s quite difficult to earn. She was praised because she sets such high standards of perfection, so, when she was there, So she was surprised and curious about the little room and what was happening inside.”
Rahman further said, “I remember an incident in 2014. I was working on Kapil Sibal ji’s album. She was not well, but I waited for three months to record her songs, which eventually happened very quickly. The song was done, though, I think he had some apprehensions.
