Apple always expands its new product launch lineup throughout the year. This year, the Cupertino giant launched the M3 MacBook Air in the spring, followed by the iPad lineup with the M4 chip, WWDC, the iPhone 16 launch and most recently, the launch of the new generation MacBook Pro with the latest and most powerful M4 chip . , With this, Apple’s 2024 launch sequence seems to be ending. And after this, Apple is planning to start 2025 with new product launches with the next version of MacBook Air.

The MacBook Air is expected to join the M4 lineup early next year, along with updates to the Mac Studio and Mac Pro. According to a recent report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing to start production on new MacBook Air models equipped with the M4 chip. Available in both 13-inch and 15-inch variants, these laptops are scheduled to be released in early 2025, possibly between January and March. While the design of the MacBook Air will remain consistent with its current form, Gurman suggests that the new generation MacBook Air will focus on internal upgrades to improve performance.

One of the most anticipated changes is the increase in base RAM, in line with the improved performance. Following the trend set by the M3 MacBook Air, which increased the base RAM from 8GB to 16GB, the M4 variant is again expected to offer a RAM upgrade to its new MacBook Air. Additionally, the M4 MacBook Air may also come with a new 12MP center stage camera with Desk View support, replacing the existing 1080p FaceTime HD camera.

After the M4 MacBook Air hits the market, Apple is expected to focus its attention on refreshing the Mac Studio. Early rumors suggested the Mac Studio would arrive in early 2025. However, new reports indicate that Apple is now planning to release it between March and June 2025. The new generation Mac Studios will likely feature M4 Ultra or M4 Max processors.

Additionally, the new Mac Studio is expected to include a Thunderbolt 5 port, which will provide faster data transfer speeds and better connectivity.

Joining the Mac Studio in this launch session is the Mac Pro. The next Mac Pro refresh is expected in summer 2025, which will skip the M3 generation and go straight to the M4 Ultra chip — which will be codenamed “Hydra” internally.

The upcoming M4 Ultra chip may feature a 32-core CPU and 80-core GPU, which will effectively double the performance capabilities of the existing M4 Max chip. Additionally, the Mac Pro can support up to 512GB of integrated memory, which is a significant upgrade from the current 192GB limit. Thunderbolt 5 ports are also expected, ensuring seamless connectivity for professional workflows.
