Anupam Kher told why he lives in a rented house despite working for 40 years
Actor Anupam Kher talked about not believing in keeping any property for himself. The 69-year-old actor mentioned buying a house for his mother, but himself living in a rented apartment.
Actor Anupam Kher says that he has lived in a rented apartment all his life and even today nothing has changed. The actor, who recently appeared in the film Vijay 69, shared the reason behind not buying a house after earning 40 years in the film industry and achieving a celebratory status.
The 69-year-old man said he never felt the need to buy a house for himself. Kher, who has worked in about 550 films in his career so far, said curly tales He believes in saving money and paying rent rather than investing in property. He further questioned ‘for whom’ he should buy the apartment.
He said, “I live in a rented apartment because I decided I don’t want to own a house. For whom (For whom)? Pay rent every month and live. With the money you will buy the house, keep it in your bank account and pay your rent with it.”
The actor said that he would prefer to spend that money on charity and do something more productive rather than buying property for himself. Kher stressed the importance of creating a legacy and doing something that will ensure that people remember you long after you are gone.
“It is better to have people fighting over your house rather than giving and distributing money after you are gone many years later,” he said, adding that he had bought an eight-bedroom house for his mother in Shimla.
The veteran actor revealed that his mother wished that she had a house in Shimla, where she had spent her life living in a rented place. Kher said that she had asked for a simple two-bedroom house, but he gave her a lavish house and she takes care of the entire property herself.
“Seven years ago I was teasing her by telling her I was a big star and she could tell me what she wanted. I thought she would say, ‘no, nothing‘, but he immediately said, ‘I want a house in Shimla.’ I asked her why because after my father’s death we didn’t live there, but she had lived there in a rented house all her life, so she wanted a house of her own,” he said.
The actor is married to veteran actor and politician Kirron Kher, who has a house in Chandigarh, Punjab.
Meanwhile, Kher’s Vijay 69 has received mixed responses from audiences and critics. The film is currently streaming on Netflix.
