Actor Anupam Kher has reacted to Naseeruddin Shah’s “clown” comment, saying the two actors share mutual respect despite their past differences. He also claimed that the old video was revived to target him after his recent comments on Ram Temple.

Actor Anupam Kher has reacted to actor Naseeruddin Shah’s “clown” comment, saying that the two actors have met, hugged and have been respecting each other. Addressing the controversy, Kher claimed that the six-year-old video was dug up to troll him following his recent comments on theft of donations at the Ayodhya Ram temple.

Responding to the resurfaced video, Kher shared a message on Instagram. He claimed that people trying to target him over his recent comments on Ayodhya Ram temple have revived the old clip.

He said, “A few days ago, I visited the Ram temple in Ayodhya and talked about my feelings. Some people didn’t like what I said because it didn’t fit their agenda. They wanted to create a narrative and started finding ways to target and troll me, abuse me. An entire ecosystem was created just to attack me. They said a lot about me, but I only enjoyed it more because they worked very hard. When they had more There was nothing, so they dug up a six-year-old video of Naseeruddin Shah, which could harm my reputation.”

The 71-year-old actor clarified that his relations with Shah remain cordial despite past differences.

He said, “In fact, Naseer and I have met, hugged each other and respect each other. People even told me to let the matter go because it had been eight or nine months, but they forgot that I had already reacted to that video and told how I felt.”

Kher also said that whatever he has achieved has been achieved through hard work and he will stick to his beliefs.

He said, “I want to say it openly: Whatever I have achieved, I have earned through my hard work. I have risen from the ground up by my values, my dedication and the grace of God and Lord Rama. Who are you really trying to scare me with? You have spent your life trapped in your ego. Why are you threatened by my shadow? You keep doing what you want. I will stand by the truth.”

Kher also replied to those who trolled him. He said his visit to Ayodhya has strengthened his belief in speaking the truth. According to him, there is immense spiritual power in the Ram temple and the city. He said that the presence of Lord Ram can be felt in every street and corner.

However, he said that people who tell the truth do not need to remember what they said because they are not fabricating stories.

Concluding his message, Kher wished everyone the best and said that he is happy. He shared that the film he is shooting is progressing well. Describing Ayodhya as an extraordinary place, he said that due to the countless prayers there, every street, nook and house is seen blessing the visitors.

Calling himself self-made, Kher said that he is not afraid of criticism or abuse. He also recalled his father’s advice that if a person does not accept someone’s insult, he returns to the one who insulted him. He concluded by saying that those who are abusing him are free to continue doing so.

Naseeruddin Shah’s old video resurfaces!

The actor’s reaction came after an interview of Naseeruddin Shah in 2020 re-circulated online. In the interview, Shah was asked about members of the film industry who had either criticized or supported the government.

Answering the question, Shah said, “There are few people who oppose it.”

Speaking about Kher, he said, “A person like Anupam Kher is very outspoken. I don’t think he needs to be taken seriously. He is a clown. Many of his contemporaries from NSD and FTII can attest to his sycophantic nature. It is in his blood. He can’t help it.”

At the time, Kher responded with a video message on Instagram, saying that Shah had a history of criticizing many prominent figures in the film industry.

In his reply, Kher said that he never spoke bad about Shah but felt compelled to respond this time. He remarked that Shah, despite achieving so much, had spent his life in despair.

The Padma Shri recipient also said that if Shah can criticize celebrities like Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Shah Rukh Khan and Virat Kohli, then he is in good company.

Kher further claimed that none of those personalities took Shah’s comments seriously. He also alleged that Shah’s long-term drug abuse had affected his ability to differentiate between right and wrong.

Reiterating his point, Kher again referred to incidents from the Mughal era, including the destruction of temples, killing of Brahmins, looting of temple valuables and violence against women. He said those incidents were much more serious and said the theft at the Ram temple should be seen in the same context.
