Anthropic Cloud adds faster modes to code, promising big productivity boost for software developers
Anthropic has announced a new Fast Mode for its Cloud Opus 4.6 AI model, which aims to provide developers with significantly faster responses. The company says the new mode can run up to 2.5 times faster than the standard version, making it better suited for time-sensitive and demanding tasks.

Just days after announcing Cloud Opus 4.6, Anthropic has launched a new Fast Mode for its AI. Opus 4.6, which many are finding a vast improvement over previous AI models, comes at a time when the wider world – and not just Silicon Valley – has begun to pay attention to the power and capabilities of anthropic AI systems. Fast Mode in Opus 4.6 aims to give software developers a much faster response to coding and complex queries without compromising quality.
According to the company, the new mode can respond up to 2.5 times faster than the standard version of Cloud Opus 4.6. Fast Mode is currently being rolled out as an early experiment and is available in a limited research preview via the Cloud Developer Platform (API).
Anthropic unveiled the fast mode for Cloud Opus 4.6 in a post on X, explaining that its internal teams are already using the fast version and are now expanding access to users through Cloud Code and the company’s API.

Claude Opus 4.6 is the fastest model by Anthropic
Anthropic says Opus 4.6 AI comes with improvements in planning, handling long-running tasks, and working on larger codebases compared to the previous model.
One of the main features of Opus 4.6 is said to be its ability to work with very large amounts of information at the same time. The company says the model can track longer conversations and larger documents with less loss of context, making it better suited for extended coding work, research projects, and detailed analysis. It also improves code review and debugging, with robust checking to catch mistakes during long workflows.
Beyond software development, Anthropic has positioned Opus 4.6 as a general purpose work model. According to the company, it can be used for tasks like financial analysis, research, and working with documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
Access to fast mode is currently limited. If developers have additional usage enabled they can try it through Cloud Code, while selected users can also access it through the API. Anthropic says it’s treating the rollout as an experiment and will collect feedback before deciding on a wider release.
