Born in London in 1949 in London, British journalist Charles Wintor and American philanthropist “Noni” Baker, Wintor began his editorial journey in the UK before going to New York in the 1970s. She joined Vogue as a creative director in 1983, and took over as Editor-in-Chief, exactly five years later in 1988.

His first cover – the characteristic of model Michela Berku in faded jeans is added with a corechar Christian lacroex jacket, displayed her bold mixture of streetwear and high fashion. That vision helped Vogue maintain cultural relevance for about four decades.
