Anjali Anand says Ranveer Singh apologized when her first shoot was delayed
Actress Anjali Anand recalls co-actor Ranveer Singh saying he had apologized after the delay in the first shoot of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. He said his sensitivity, encouragement and constant warmth stayed with him.
Actress Anjali Anand shares her memories from the sets Rocky and Rani’s love story (2023), a film that proved to be a turning point in his career. In an exclusive conversation with India Today, the actor recalled some of his most memorable moments with director Karan Johar, veteran actor Dharmendra and co-actor Ranveer Singh.
Recalling a memory associated with her, Anjali said, “A memory. Rocky and Rani’s love story I will always remember the time we shot our breakout scene. Karan (Johar) sir liked this take so much that he came to me and kissed my forehead. I’ll never forget it.”

The actor reflected on the bond he shared with legendary actor Dharmendra on the sets and described those interactions as priceless. She said, “Another special memory is spending time with Dharamji on the set. I used to sit with him for hours and he used to recite his poems and shayari to me. Those moments were priceless.”
Anjali also talked about Ranveer Singh and described him as a supportive and sensitive co-star who made her feel comfortable during the shoot.
“Working with Ranveer was incredible. Every scene with him was so much fun because he is such an inspiring and generous co-actor. I remember on the first day of shooting, we couldn’t complete our scene. I had already posted on Instagram that I can’t wait for my first day for such a big film. Ranveer saw it and came up to me and said, ‘I’m so sorry.’ I told him, ‘Ranveer, you only know that my scene did not happen. Everyone else thinks I got shot today,” he added.
The actor mentioned that what impressed him the most was the way Ranveer took responsibility for something that was not even his fault.
She said, “What impressed me was how sensitive he was. He actually apologized that my scene couldn’t be filmed because his schedule ran late. The next day, he made sure he was there for my shoot. After my scene, he went and even took feedback from the team before coming back to encourage me. It meant a lot.”
The actor revealed that despite the film being over, they have remained in touch over the years.
“We’ve been in touch over the years. We meet at friends’ weddings and other social functions, and he’s always as lovely. I watched Dhurandhar – I loved it. That hair flip was great. He’s doing absolutely amazing, and I’m so happy for him. He deserves this success and more. I love him,” Anjali concluded.
Anjali was recently seen in director Indra Kumar’s film dhamaal 4In which actors Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Esha Gupta, Javed Jaffrey, Ravi Kishan and Sanjay Mishra are in lead roles.
