Angelina Jolie to receive honour at Toronto International Film Festival
Angelina Jolie will be honoured at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) alongside Amy Adams, Cate Blanchett, Durga Chew-Bose, David Cronenberg and others.
Academy Award-winning actor-turned-filmmaker Angelina Jolie will be presented with the TIFF Tribute Award for Impact Media at this year’s Toronto Film Festival, TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey announced on Tuesday, August 27.
Jolie will be honored at the 2024 TIFF Tribute Awards held at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel on Sunday, September 8. She will also be in the city for the world premiere of her latest directorial project, “Without Blood.”,It is a war drama based on Alessandro Baricco’s book of the same name, starring Salma Hayek and Demien Béchir.
Jolie will be honored alongside other award recipients including Amy Adams, Jharrel Jerome, Cate Blanchett, Mike Leigh, Durga Chew-Bose, David Cronenberg, Clement Ducol, Camille and Zhao Tao. Films by TIFF Tribute Award winners often feature on the official list of the Toronto Film Festival.
The award has previously been given to personalities such as Pedro Almodóvar, Mira Nair and Alanis Obomsawin. It recognizes outstanding leadership in building bridges between social impact and cinema. This year’s honorees at the TIFF Fundraising Gala, chaired by Sandra Oh as the inaugural Honorary Chair, include Amy Adams, Cate Blanchett, Durga Chew-Bose, David Cronenberg, Clément Ducol, Camille, Jharrel Jerome, Mike Leigh and Zhao Tao.
Recognized by TIFF for her extensive humanitarian efforts and commitment to social justice as highlighted in films such as ‘Unbroken’, And in the land of blood and honey,Angelina Jolie returns to TIFF after screening her 2017 film ‘First They Killed My Father’, at the festival.
