As Alpha Set for theatrical release, the film’s action director Craig McCrae has praised Alia Bhatt’s commitment behind the scenes, saying that her work ethic “sets her apart” and teasing that audiences should “expect the unexpected” from her in the action thriller.

His comments come days after Alia’s action sequences in the film’s trailer received mixed reactions online, with a section of social media users trolling the actor for her high-octane stunts.

McCray, who has previously worked with international action stars such as Charlize Theron and Milla Jovovich, said Alia’s dedication during preparation for the film was unparalleled and would translate into a powerful on-screen performance.

“The thing that separates Alia Bhatt from those other female stars is that I think her work ethic is absolutely incredible. She really puts a lot of time and a lot of effort into preparation Alpha. She was really dedicated to the film and I think that’s what really makes a huge difference to her on-screen presence.”

The action director said that Alia’s preparation extended beyond mastering the film’s stunt sequences.

He added, “Not just to prepare for the action, he also put in a lot of work to prepare for the character. He’s one of those guys who you can really feel is willing to put in the amount of work required for the film and then go above and beyond.”

McCray also praised Sharvari and said that both actors invested months of effort into their physical conditioning, combat training, and stunt work.

He said, “Alia and Sharvari were absolutely incredible for this film. The preparation they put into it, the work they did physically for this film and with their skill training and stunt training was absolutely incredible. It’s very rare to find people who are willing to put as much time and effort into this film as Alia and Sharvari did.”

According to McCrae, his willingness to train extensively gave the action team more creative freedom when designing the film’s hand-to-hand combat sequences.

He said that the duo’s preparation allowed the stunt team to ramp up the action, adding that they were confident that both actors could execute the physically demanding choreography while maintaining authenticity on screen.
