Amid Peddi controversy, Kangana Ranaut says female artistes can mark problematic scenes
Kangana Ranaut took a dig at the controversy surrounding Peddi, saying that female artistes should express their concerns if they find a scene uncomfortable or problematic.
Amidst the ongoing debate regarding the portrayal of women pediActress-politician Kangana Ranaut has said that if female actors feel uncomfortable in a scene, they should speak up. She said filmmakers are often reluctant to hear the female perspective and don’t always realize how certain scenes come across to audiences.
Ranaut, who is currently promoting her upcoming film india destiny makershared his thoughts on objectification in cinema during an interview with PTI. According to him, filmmaking is a collaborative process and actors can contribute by offering perspectives that may not have been considered during the writing stage.

“You can bring light into the scene and say, ‘It looks like this’. Maybe they don’t want to objectify because nobody wants to make a film where they’re like, ‘Let’s objectify’. What I’ve seen is that they don’t think that way,” Ranaut told. PTI.
The actor said that female actors can help creators understand how audiences might experience certain scenes.
“So as a woman, you can share your perspective and say, ‘Yes, this is what it feels like or this doesn’t feel good.’
His comments come at a time when pediThe Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor starrer is facing criticism from a section of the audience over the portrayal of Janhvi’s character, Achiamma.
Most discussion focuses on the character’s introductory scene, in which the camera focuses on his body before revealing his face. Critics have argued that the sequence places more emphasis on visual appeal than establishing character.
