America: Threatened shipment taken out from Iran base on Hormuz oil route

The US military announced on Saturday that it had removed an Iranian bunker containing weapons that posed a threat to oil and gas shipments in the Strait of Hormuz. The US statement appeared to be designed to assuage concerns of energy markets and Washington’s skeptical international allies.Admiral Brad Cooper, head of US Central Command, said US warplanes had dropped 5,000-pound bombs on an underground facility off the coast of Iran that housed anti-ship cruise missiles, mobile launchers and other equipment. “We not only took out the facility, but also destroyed intelligence support sites and missile radar relays that were used to monitor ship movements,” Cooper said in a video statement revealing details of the attack, announced for the first time on Tuesday.
