Social media users have questioned a Pakistani brand over the use of morphed photos of Alia Bhatt, raising concerns over the use of artificial intelligence.

Artificial intelligence has created challenges for celebrities in recent times as individuals use the technology to alter their images without consent. In a recent development, a new controversy has emerged online as morphed pictures of actress Alia Bhatt were used by a Pakistani clothing brand to promote its products.

Pictures of Alia surfaced on social media, in which she is seen promoting Pakistani clothing brand WajAyesha Clothing. Sharing AI-generated photos of Alia in traditional attire, Wazayeshe Clothing captioned its Instagram post, “Even Alia Bhatt loved our pure Sheesha Silk collection!! (smiling emoji) Color can be customized!! Book your order now!! (sic).”

One user commented, “Alia Bhatt knows about brand shoots (Does Alia Bhatt know about this brand shoot?) (sic).” The brand’s Instagram handle responded, “Please make it viral so that they also know. (Please make this viral so that he also knows about it) (sic).”

Taking a dig at the brand, one user commented, “She’s going to sue you! (sic).” VajAyesha Clothing commented in her response, “No she won’t.” One user also wrote, “This is AI, I will send it to him.” The brand replied, “But we have the original product.”

    Earlier, misuse of AI has prompted celebrities like actors Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan to demand protection of their personality rights.

    Personality rights are basically legal ownership of your own identity against public exploitation. This rule states that you are the only one allowed to make money using your name, face or voice. Properties cannot be exploited without the person’s consent.

    On the work front, Alia will next be seen in director Shiv Rawail’s espionage thriller. Alpha (2026). The film is part of Yash Raj Films’ espionage universe and also stars Sharvari, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol.
