In a statement shared on social media, the Kshatriya Parishad alleged that the film was using the name of the Chauhan clan for “contemporary communal politics” and claimed that such attempts were being made for “electoral or ideological purposes”.

Condemning the clip, the organization stressed that Chauhan is a historical Rajput (Kshatriya) clan whose legacy is storied in history and should not be dragged into “partisan campaigns or manufactured media controversies”.

The statement said, “Kshatriya Parishad strongly condemns the recent attempt by Neeraj Yadav and actor Ajay Devgan to appropriate the name of the Chauhan dynasty for contemporary communal politics. The Chauhans are a historical Rajput (Kshatriya) clan whose legacy belongs to history, and not to partisan campaigns or manufactured media controversies.”

Terming the development as “extremely unfortunate”, it further alleged that Rajput identity was once again being subsumed into a political narrative, which was neither initiated nor supported by the community.

The statement further said, “It is extremely unfortunate that the Rajput identity is once again being dragged into a political narrative that the Rajputs neither initiated nor invented. At a time when Rajput voices are under-represented in mainstream media and public discussion, taking the name of the Rajput clan merely to provoke outrage, inflame caste and communal sentiments or create a political spectacle is irresponsible and insulting.”

Kshatriya Parishad further argued that such portrayals reflect “ignorance of Indian history” and reduce the subcontinent’s complex past into simplistic communal binaries.

Supporting its stance, the group cited several historical examples, saying that medieval political alliances were driven by statecraft, military strategy, and political loyalty, and not by the current sectarian narratives that are often associated with them.

“Such attempts also reflect deep ignorance of Indian history. Mahmud Lodi fought under Maharana Sanga at the Battle of Khanwa; Hakim Khan Sur commanded a contingent in Maharana Pratap’s army at Haldighati; Farid Khan, who later became Sher Shah Suri, is traditionally associated with military service under Raja Raisal Shekhawat in his early career; and Maharaja Vikramaditya Tomar commanded the army at Panipat. “These episodes show that medieval political alliances were shaped by statecraft, loyalty and military strategy – not by the communal narratives imposed on them today,” he wrote.

The group further stressed that it rejects all attempts to “weaponize Rajput history” or “appropriate Rajput identity for electoral or ideological purposes”. It urged political leaders, filmmakers and media organizations to engage responsibly with India’s history, stressing that Rajput heritage should not be used as “fodder for divisive political debate”.
