Unveiled on Yash’s birthday, the teaser introduces her as Raya – the co-writer, co-producer and morally complex lead role of the film – which stars a strong female ensemble cast of Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria. Mohandas, who directs the film, prefers a women’s narrative, with the teaser introducing the female characters before revealing Raya.
The teaser opens inside a graveyard, where silence gives way to the sound of gunshots as Raya walks forward with a Tommy gun, her swag intact. The line “Daddy’s home” has already gone viral, cementing the film’s darker genre tone.
