After Rajinikanth, Mammootty avoids answering about Thalapathy Vijay and his decision about cinema

Mammootty is all set to play the lead role in Patriot. Directed by Mahesh Narayanan, the espionage action thriller is scheduled to release on May 1, 2026. As the superstar is actively promoting the film, he was recently spotted at the Chennai airport, where he refused to comment on Thalapathy Vijay and his future plans.

Mammootty was seen arriving at the Chennai airport, where he was approached by media persons. When asked about his opinion on Thalapathy Vijay’s decision to walk away from cinema, the actor simply smiled and said that he was unaware of it, and politely excused himself before walking away.

First, Rajinikanth Also asked about the delay of Vijay and Jan Nayakan. However, the Jailer star shrugged off the question and avoided commenting.

Mammootty’s work front

Mammootty Currently, preparations are being made for the release of Patriot. The film revolves around an intelligence tool developed with government approval. When a person opposes its use, he is able to highlight the serious danger it poses. As his revelations make him a target, the former army officer teams up with his paralyzed colleague to prevent disaster before time runs out.

With Mamukka, Mohanlal plays a pivotal role, starring Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, Kunchacko Boban, Darshan Rajendran and Rajeev Menon in lead roles. The film was initially scheduled to release on April 23, 2026, but was later postponed to May 1. The music is composed by Sushin Shyam.

Looking ahead, the superstar has completed the shooting of Padayatra. He is currently shooting for Dhanush’s D55. He also has Mattancherry Mafia, a project with director Nitish Sahdev, and has confirmed a vampire film in his lineup.
