Google has recently offered a ‘voluntary exit’ program to its American employees. This program is exclusive to employees working in the stage and equipment department.

Google merged Pixel hardware and Android software teams in April 2024, the company announced a voluntary exit program. According to a report by 9to5google, Google has sent a memorandum to the employees working in the platform and the device department. Memo said that in the voluntary exit program, whoever wants to step below his role, can do so with a guaranteed break. According to the report to Memo, SVP Rick was sent through Oosteraloh.
The memorandum states, “It comes when we bring two big organizations together last year.” He said, “This team has tremendous pace and with the very important work further, we want everyone to be deeply committed to our mission and focus on building great products with speed and efficiency.”
Voluntary procurement -sometimes an indication is that the trimming can follow if very few employees accept to leave Google’s proposal. The voluntary exit program also follows a petition signed by more than 1,250 Google workers in the US and Canada regions. According to a CNBC report, Google employees have signed an internal petition for job protection. The petition highlights the increasing concerns of the employees over job security after several rounds since 2023. Many are abandoned by questioning the justification of these dismissal, especially given the company’s concrete financial situation.
Google has been in the headlines worldwide for its trimming, but this program is not a company-wide proposal. The event is available to US employees within the platform and devices division, including Android (Auto, TV, Wear OS, XR), Chrome, Chromeos, Google Photos, Google One, Pixel, Fitbit and Nest Covering teams Has been done While Google has a global workforce dedicated to these products, the announcement applies only to employees in the United States.

However, he noted that there is always a place for further adaptation, “Any outfit can always move a little further, and I will look at additional opportunities.” These cost-cut efforts are aimed at balanced the company’s huge investment in AI.
