Malvi Malhotra is feeling relieved after a four-year fight for justice. In 2020, the actor was stabbed by a man after she rejected his marriage proposal. Last week, a sessions court in Mumbai convicted the culprit and sentenced him to three years of rigorous imprisonment. Speaking to India Today Digital, Malvi said that she wants to forget the incident as a tragic nightmare. She also talked about the importance of women’s safety and finding support in the family in times of crisis.

“More than the physical wounds, I had to go through a lot of mental trauma. I was very scared initially, and felt as if I was being followed. My family, especially my father, gave me support and strength to recover. He even left his job and spent time with me. I also kept myself busy with work, so as not only to divert my attention from the attack but also to earn enough money. The entire treatment process was expensive and it took several months to finally heal the scars. “Physically it may be okay but mentally I will need time to get over it completely,” Malvi told India Today Digital in an exclusive interview.

The actor shared that after the surgery to remove the knife scar on his hand, he also had to change the skin color as the wound was much darker than his original skin color. This process was time consuming and also put him under financial pressure.

She said, “I am grateful that the industry stood by me and helped me get enough work. I have been constantly on the sets of films and TV shows and that really made things easier for me. A lot of friends were also around. This was the time when I realized who my true friend was. It was the first time I spent so much time together, first for studies and then for work. It brought us closer.”
