Actor-politician Khushboo Sundar got emotional when her elder daughter Avantika Sundar married Shravan Srinivasan in an intimate wedding ceremony in Goa last week. A video of the ceremony captured the emotional moment as Khushboo watched her daughter’s wedding rituals, wiping away tears of joy and holding husband Sundar C close to her.

The wedding, which took place on June 25, was attended by close friends and members of the film industry. The glimpse shared by the event management company showed Khushboo starting the ceremony by lighting the traditional lamp, followed by celebrities including Radhika Sarathkumar, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Venkatesh Daggubati, Chiranjeevi, Tamannaah Bhatia and Trisha Krishnan.

As soon as Shravan tied Plate Khushboo, wearing Mangalsutra around Avantika’s neck, was seen praying and getting emotional. Sundar C watched the ceremony with joy, as the couple shared warm moments celebrating the beginning of their daughter’s new chapter. Their younger daughter Anandita was also seen getting emotional during the ceremony, while Avantika’s pet pet became a part of the intimate ceremony.

Sharing the first pictures from the wedding, Khushboo wrote about the overwhelming emotions of seeing her daughter starting a new journey.

“Words seem inadequate to express the emotions we are experiencing,” he wrote, adding that family has always been at the center of everything they cherish.

Describing it as a small and intimate celebration, Khushboo said that the wedding was exactly how the couple had envisioned it and the family felt honored to fulfill their wishes.

However, his post later drew criticism online when veteran filmmaker-actor K Bhagyaraj, who had attended the wedding, died of a heart attack on June 27. Some users questioned his decision to share wedding moments while the industry was mourning his death.

Responding to one such comment, Khushboo defended her right to celebrate the birth of her daughter and said that the wedding took place less than 48 hours before Bhagyaraj’s death. The filmmaker attended the wedding in Goa, which was his last public appearance.

“Then why follow me? Just to criticize?” She responded, and said that she knows Bhagyaraj’s family and situation better and that he “has every right to be happy.”

Despite the online debate, the wedding was a deeply personal family moment for Khushboo and Sundar C, filled with tears, pride and joy of seeing their daughter step into a new phase of life.
