Actress Taapsee Pannu spoke about the stereotypes that actors usually face when speaking on matters of political importance. The actress said that most people believe that Bollywood stars are not mentally competent to comment on such serious matters.
She was speaking in an interview ANI When she made this statement, Taapsee said that the stereotypes are even worse for female actors, as people don’t like women’s opinions. She said, “Actors are considered to have a low IQ and people think they hardly know anything, especially if it’s a woman. Then they think, how dare you have an opinion,”
The actress, who was recently seen in ‘Khel Khel Mein’ alongside Akshay Kumar and Vaani Kapoor, said that the decision to speak out on such matters feels like a “double-edged sword”. She highlighted the vulnerability of actors and how people are often quick to criticise stars for their statements.
“We have our own kind of politics. It is not always related to any particular kind of politics. People want to remain silent because they feel that doing so will create problems,” he said.
Taapsee continued to talk about the double standards of people who expect actors to speak up but also attack them for their opinions. “I think it’s a double-edged sword. If you have an opinion, it’s still a problem. If you don’t have an opinion, it’s still a problem,” she said.
The actress has been one of the strong voices in the industry. She has previously spoken on national and political issues, as well as the problems faced by many actors, especially women, in the film industry. Taapsee is known for her performances in films like ‘Pink’, ‘Thappad’ and ‘Manmarziyaan’.
