Actor Terence Stamp, who played the role of Superman Villain General Zod, dies on 87
Actor Terence Stamp, known for his role as General Zod, died at the age of 87. He has also played an important role in actor Tom Cruise’s World War 2 period-drama ‘Vulkari’ (2008).

Actor Terence Stamp, known to play the role of Arc-Wilan General Zod in “Superman” and “Superman II”, died at the age of 87, his family said on Sunday morning.
His family, in his statement RootsSaid, “He leaves an extraordinary body behind, both as an actor and as a writer who will continue to touch and motivate people for the coming years. We ask for privacy at this sad time.”
The Oscar-nominated actor featured in 1968 in films like ‘Pramay’, ‘A Seas in Hell’ in 1971 in ‘The Adventures of Prisla, Queen of the Desert’, in which she played the role of a transgender woman.
Stamp was born in 1938 at East End, London. As a son of a tugboat stoker, he tolerated the city’s bombing during the World War Two before leaving school. He initially worked in advertisement, due to which he won the scholarship to go to the drama school.
The actor portrayed N Italian films and worked with Federico Felini in the late 1960s, which was after an unsuccessful attempt to play the role of James Bond to succeed Sean Connery.
Stamp took a rest from the entertainment industry and studied yoga in India for some time. He later played his most high-profile role-as General Zod, in the Cryptonians’ Magalomaniankal leader, ‘Superman’ (1978) and in its sequel in 1980. The British actor also re -acquired Silver Beer at the 42nd Berlin International Film Festival in 1992. He won the award for his performance in the Spanish Crime-Mithya film ‘Beltni’.
Stamp’s performance in the historic-Drama ‘Billy Buddha’ (1962) received him an Academy Award nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category. He was also nominated at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards for the film. ‘The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert’, also gave him a BAFTA nomination.
Stamp appeared in a string of other films, including Tom Cruise, ‘Vulkari’ (2008) along with Tom Cruise, ‘The adjustment bureau’ (2011), including other films directed by Matt Demon and Tim Burton.
