Actor SJ Suryya reveals reasons for rejecting the role of Labbar Pandu
At the LIK Success Meet, actor SJ Suryah shared the reasons behind rejecting the lead role in Labbar Pandu, which later became a blockbuster. He talked about trusting his conscience and praised the director’s unique storytelling style.
Director-actor SJ Suryah shares insights on why he rejected the role initially offered to him in the 2024 superhit film, Labbar Pandu. The role, eventually played by the actor Attakathi Dinesh was first introduced to Suriya by director Tamilarasan Pachamuthu.
But lick “Once a director came to me with a script that I really liked. I asked him to make a few changes to suit my image, and he was completely up for it. But as those changes got added, I stopped and thought. I told him honestly, ‘I am moving in a certain direction, but if you keep changing your story for me, you may lose your individuality as a filmmaker,'” Suriya told PTI at the Success Meet on Wednesday.

SJ Surya elaborated on his decision-making process and revealed that he relies on his instincts to select film projects. “I decided to walk away, even though after those changes I could have easily moved on with the project. Today, that film, Labbar PanduIt has become a blockbuster. I really admire what Tamilarasan has created, especially the beautiful scene with Geetha Kailasam and the cows. I also asked him how he managed to bring out such emotions using something so simple,” he shared.
