Shiva Rajkumar wanted Vijay to become CM
Shiva was speaking about the film based on the life of Rajkumar Narasiah, in which he plays the lead role. Narasiah, a tribal leader from Telangana, served as the MLA from the Yellandu constituency between 1983 and 1994 and again from 1999 to 2009. Calling him an inspiration, Shiva Rajkumar said that Vijay also has the same ability to connect with people and bring change.
Speaking about Narasaiah and Vijay, he said, “I was inspired by the story of Gummadi Narasaiah. I wondered if people could really be like that. It’s very rare that we get people like that. Vijay sir has that charisma. I was very happy to see it when he stood for election. The way he talked about certain things, he touched me. And I was just wishing for a change. If he comes, it would be good.” That’s what I was hoping for, and some people are so honest that God will see and answer.”
Vijay currently serves as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu after his party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) won the 2026 state elections.
Shiv Rajkumar on actors entering politics
Asked whether the era of film personalities entering politics was returning to South India, Shiva Rajkumar said it was a positive development, provided the person was genuinely interested in public service. However, he clarified that he does not see himself entering politics.
He said, “It is very good, and you should really be interested in that field. I am not in that field. I am married to Geeta Shivarajkumar, daughter of Bangarappa (former Karnataka CM), and if she wants to contest the election then she can contest the election, that is why I supported her.”
He further added, “If you ask me if I can serve the people, I am still serving the people. I don’t have any arrangement to help the entire state. I am doing as much as I can. Some fans and other people who see me doing this may get inspired and they can also help. It should be extended like this.”
The actor will be seen next pedi. The sports drama starring Ram Charan in the lead role also stars Janhvi Kapoor and will release in theaters globally on June 4.
